    AMMO question

Hi folks, well after hearing a couple negatives about Hornaday ammo & reading thru our AMMO EFFECTIVENESS thread, I guess it's not that great as I was told by my local shop, anyways with those listed in the chart what would be the best overall defense ammo for a m&p 40c....thank you in advance

    Hi There,
This news is new to me. What do you know about Hornady Ammo, regarding effectiveness? Are you refering to bullet design, in terms of expansion? Personally, I don't sweat the small stuff. I have critical duty in .40 what are your concerns, exactly?

Hello all, I'm here to engage in polite and respectful conversation. Just left a very nasty forum where they like to TALK about GLOCK.

Youtube is full of ballistic testing. Search is sometimes harder for the .40's. I'm not a fan of the 9mm Hornady with the plastic inserts. I do like the Custom or American Gunner in the 124+P. Nothing really sticks in my mind for Hornady in .40. I like the Liberty Civil Defense.

Probably a good bet is Federal Hydra Shock, or the HST.

Ammo brand likes and dislikes will give you the same "factual" info as asking is a 380acp good enough for self defense?....Is a 9mm acceptable instead of a 45 cal? Personal preference is a manner of opinion and nothing else. I use hollow point SD ammo, but a ball cartridge , used for years and years...used in the military and civilian police for decades, killed or saved many lives prior to all this fancy different hollow point ammo came out. I do not think there is one particular brand you will find that is 100% a choice for every person owing a firearm.

I also would not base my sole decision on a gelatin test result, there are many factors to consider when making a decision, on what to load up with.

Lone Watie: I notice when you get to DISlikin' someone they ain't around for long neither.
