    Revisited old thread

Several months ago there was a thread that discussed if LEO's could check CCW permits against vehicle registrations.
We were told in the CCW class I was in to inform the LEO that your are carrying and have the proper permits.
Yesterday I learned that in North Carolina they can do this. I was involved in a fender-bender on I-40 near Burlington, NC.
After giving the State Trooper my driver's license and vehicle registration, his first words were, "Do you have your gun on you"?
I told him it was in the truck console and he said, "Fine just leave it there". I asked if he wanted to see my permit and he said no he
had it right on his computer. Now I know, they know!

Because NC has firearms registration. GA does not.

I can't locate it right now due to work blocking some sites, but I've seen a video from Massad Ayoob on what to do when you are stopped by a cop. In the video he suggests you hand your driver's liscense and you carry permit, keep hands visible at all times, and stay in the vehicle unless ordered to step out. Keep in mind Massad was a duty officer and lives (lived?) in NH, where everyone owns guns and many carry legally. He used to runs the "Lethal Force Institute" up in Concord, now got his own company in FL. He is knowledgeable on the subject.

Again, it depends on where you live. Some states require you inform by law, others do not. Here in GA we are not required and most law enforcement officers will tell you not to inform unless its going to become an issue, I.e. asked to step out of the vehicle etc.

Florida does not store CWP status in the drivers database... Like TheLaw, I wouldn't say anything until the officer requested something that was going to expose the gun...

In TN it is recommended that you show permit when you show license but is by no means required... I have one tucked behind the other so its not any extra effort to pull them both at the same time if I ever had to. Knock on wood I have only been pulled over once in my life and 0 tickets.
This is my Glock. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

It's not required in Colorado, and like the others have said, unless it could becomes an issue no reason to add any more crap to the mix.
