Does anyone use Ed's Red Gun Oil and Cleaner?

Does anyone use Ed's Red Gun Oil and Cleaner? I have started to use Ed's Red Gun Oil and Cleaner for the last year. I believe the cleaner works as well as hopps #9 and the oil works as well as CLP in my opinion. It is inexpensive to make if you have all the ingredients to make the mix. The mix can be made into any quantity.

And I thought I'd heard of every gun oil on the planet...

So, what is it and how do you make it...

I only use full syn ATF to clean and oil my firearms and been doing so for years, nothing else. I never had any rust and my bores stay shiny and ATF is made for metals that get really hot. The new cars can go 100k miles before needing a change. No I think it is cheaper to just buy Hoppes and never tried any of Eds chemical solutions.

Way back when I first started collecting, I made a killa (pun intended), deal on a couple of Colt .45 semi autos that a guy had in the pawn shop, I bought the tickets and then redeemed them.

The former owner came over that nite to tell me how he had taken care of them and how I should care for them. He swore by top shelf ATF for a finish coating once the weapon was cleaned and a re-treat every week while in storage.

Well, I did use a OEM brand of fluid, (do not think syn's were invented back then), for awhile and made the change to other methods as I encountered different folks with different strokes as they say.

I have my own method now that I am sure has to be my own, but, I'd bet lots of us are like that ...

You can google the recipe for Ed's Red. It is as good as anything on the market that isn't formulated to remove copper fouling. It is made of inexpensive ingredients available at most home improvement stores. Commonly mixed by the gallon it is by volume much cheaper than the specialty stuff. Just look at the MSDS of your favorite store bought wonder lube or cleaner. They are mostly mineral oil with common additives. No miracle juice to be found. Just pretty spelling stuff in a pretty bottle.
The reason I use a .45 is they don't make a .46, and shoot'in something twice is silly.
