Glock Gen1 Pencil Barrel AFxxx
I'm pretty excited - I was able to acquire an AFxxx Pencil Barrel Gen1 via trade! Took a large chunk of my Glocks to acquire so I'm still kind of in shock and processing owning one rare gun vs multiple usable guns.
But, here it is!
The barrel date code is GTF putting it's mfg date at July 1984. The AF serial numbers were the first commercial imports by Glock (Jan 1986) to the US. It's my understanding that Glock later imported AAxxx.
Pencil Barrels - these are discussed in other threads but in short, Glock initially used a thinner walled barrel. The hole in the slide is also smaller, matching the barrel. Guns with these thinner barrels are referred to as "Pencil" barrels (see images 2nd post). Glock used the thinner barrel until sometime in the AMxxx or ANxxx resulting in there being a lot fewer Gen1 Pencil Barrels than standard Gen1s. Add in that so many of the early guns went to LE departments and never came back out into the public and the number shrinks even more.
Unfortunately, I don't have the correct manual (yet). The gun should have a 1985 manual and I have a 1986 :(
