The glass vial containing the tritium would crack under the pressure. I think about his story everytime I install new sights on a Glock.

    Apparently, Trijicon doesn't like the hammer and punch method. I'm not sure what a Novak pusher is. They do installations for $30, they say:

    >>Thank you for your patronage of Trijicon products. We highly recommend professional installation. You are welcome to send it in here to us and the install fee is $30.00. On the other hand, if you want to do it yourself then we recommend any Novak pusher tool. If you would like to send in the sights along with the slide for installation please follow the link to obtain a return authorization number Return Authorization - Trijicon, Inc.. Please note: do not use the hammer and punch method it will break the vials. If we can assist you further please feel free to contact us. <<

    That's helpful as well, thanks. This knowledge will probably sell some sight pushers, but I think that tritium night sights are good enough, bright enough, that the extra cost is worth it to install them correctly.

    Not sure how one would do a one-handed slide rack. Maybe by jerking it with one hand like you see people cocking a pump action shotgun with one hand? I'm not planning on trying it.
    One handed slide rack using your rear sight is accomplished by hooking the rear sight on your belt, holster, pant's pocket etc.. and pushing forward quickly.

I was wondering if Trijicon makes any special warnings about installing the rear sight with a hammer and punch.

    Cajun;

    I don't know. The only way to find out is to call Glock and ask them, here is the number for Customer Service: 770-432-1202.

    If Glock won't do it and if you can't find a local gunsmith or Armorer to do the work, an alternative might be CPWSA.com. He sells Warren Trijicon night sights and will install them for $45 if you send him the slide. Dawson also sells Warren and Tru-Glo sights, and he charges $35 per sight for installation. You will need to send the slide to Dawson or CPWSA.

    Just called Trijicon about my sights that were sent in with slide. They are apparently short staffed right now (the repair/service dept., the lady that answered the phone yesterday told me that). They received it about 2.5 weeks ago and had taken it out of queue but hadn't notified me yet. They said that I destroyed the front bulb by using a screw too long so not a warranty issue. That was not my understanding: I thought that I used their screw at first which was too long (left the sight dangling a bit on the slide), then used the original screw which was shorter to finish the install. But, no good to argue. So, I bought a new front sight from them to install, so should be back in queue and have it shipped within a week.

    I think if I did it again, I would send them the unopened sights and slide (or possibly send the slide if I could purchase directly from them) and have them install. Live and learn.

    Just as TheLaw stated about the one handed slide rack, we learned the same technique in basic academy, if one of your arms is shot or disabled its good to know another way to get your gun back in the fight.

    Glad you're getting it fixed up...

    Good thing you called... Sounds like they might have never called you back...
