Cool 4th Gen Glock 19 - New 04 Guide Rod Spring Available!

Glock has finally started sending out their new guide rod spring for the 4th generation Glock 19. Here's a picture of the old/original 03 and the new 04:

I ordered one this morning, but they are out of supply. They said it would be two weeks until more arrive.

The Tech asked what kind of ammo I shot and I said WWB. He suggested that I shoot a 124gr 9mm round until the new spring comes in. I asked why that would help... He stated that the .40 cal springs had been used in the 9mm 4th gen Glocks and that they were too strong. I have heard many people say that, this was the first time I have heard a Glock representative mention it.

For the record, I have about 300 rounds through my G19/4... It jammed once in the first 100 rounds and twice in the next 100 rounds. I went to the range yesterday and shot a box of American Eagle 124gr FMJ with no jams at all. I brought a box of Federal 115gr FMJ (from Walmart) to shoot in my G17/4, but decided to try in in my G19/4. My G19/4 shot the whole box of Federal ammunition without a jam either.

My G17 4th generation jammed once with the original guide rod spring and has never jammed again since installing the new 02 guide rod spring. Hopefully the 04 guide rod spring for the G19/4 will do just as good a job.

thanks for the post and pics. I'm totally losing track of recoil springs so tell me if this is right: 01 and 02 springs are for the G17. 03 and 04 are for the G19. is 04 the highest number on gen 4 springs in general so far?
    Question your assumptions

Yes, as far as I know.

I believe the G17/4 and G19/4 are the only two 4th gen Glocks with updated recoil springs. 01 original and then 02 for G17/4 and then 03 original followed by the 04 for the G19/4.

    G19 Gen4 spring question

After purchase, I took the slide off and inspected the inside before going to the range. I noticed that the end of the spring was halfway off the semi-circle catch. After shooting through 200 rounds, I took it apart for cleaning and noticed that the end of the spring had traveled halfway off that circle catch again. Is this a normal behavior?

    Thank you.

I saw where a new spring was available but I haven't had any problems with the one I have so I am going to stick with it.

I believe the recoil spring doesn't stay on the semi-circle when you assemble and fire the gun. I have field stripped mine a few time for cleaning and found the recoil spring partially off the semi-circle catch, too. I never worried about it.

I'm pretty sure it's normal behavior...

Welcome to the Glock.pro forums, BTW... Hope you'll stick around for a while... Nice crew here...

I fired a hundred rounds through mine yesterday with no failures, so I thought about skipping the 04 spring too. 50 rounds were the cheapie Federal Walmart 115gr ammo... exactly what was supposed to be the main culpret for jamming... still no jams...

The thing that changed my mind is that Glock stated that the new 04 spring will be issued with all future 4th gen Glock 19's. Figured I'd get one and try it out.
