    what generation

I have a Glock 19 that I have had for many years. The serial number is AET510. Can someone please tell me if it is a Gen 1 or Gen 2?
    thanks

Gen2 probably 1994. You can email Glock to get a more specific date.

There are very few Gen1 19s in existence so you can almost always rule that out. The early Glocks started with a two letter prefix, then 3 numbers followed by US. They eventually added 3 letters (what yours has) and now have 4 letters. They stopped putting US on the end of the serial numbers some time back.

The question about what was on the barrel was related to a 3 letter date code Glock used to put on the barrel that would represent the month and year the barrel was manufactured. They also stopped doing this years ago.

I should have added, the real way to tell Gen1 vs Gen2. Gen1 has consistent pebbled texture around the entire grip (it does not change). Gen2 only has pebbling on the sides, the front and back of the grip have a different texture - no finger grooves.

We have a few threads with pictures of the differences twixt the generations and also on serial numbers.

You can also post up some pics and we can tell you some things from the images.

I have taken three pictures. One of the barrel, one of the serial number in front of the trigger guard and one of the hand grip area.
    Thank you for looking.

IF there is a date code in the barrel it would be on the top of the barrel hood.

Itís definitely not a Gen1. Looks like a Gen2 but the grip sleeve is covering most of the grip. If the finger grooves are from the sleeve and donít exist on the frame of the gun, itís a Gen2.
