Question How much torq when mounting a red dot

I have Glock Mod 40 10 mm Using the MOS system in mounting a Red dot sight. Screws are really small . Bought some Blue Lock tight ,but how much torq . I was just out shooting it and the sight flew off the slide ,hit me in the head. Can't believe I found the two little screws with undamaged threads. I was worried I'd strip them If I tightened them too much . Must of had the wrong lock tight ?

I use loctite 262 on my Glocks. Even though it is red itís a medium/high strength. Iíve never had a problem breaking it loose with small screws without using heat. Iíve also never had it work loose like I have using blue.

Be sure to clean the screws of grease/oil well. I go finger tight and my fingers arenít as strong as some. Iíve never put a torque wrench on a Glock but if I did Iíd probably follow the same recommendations as scope rings.

You know, as Iím typing this, I remember I had to request different screws from Vortex to fit the Glock MOS. They sent them for free but you may want to contact your red dot mfg and see if they recommend different screws.

The amount torque for screws is determined by the screw size, material and thread. There are many online guides by different manufacturers.

Here's one general guide: Screw Torque

Or try to find a copy of "The Machinery's Handbook". Not a cheap book but a fantastic reference if like figuring things out on your own.

Yep, I'm a big Holosun fan... They have solid electronics and the batteries last forever.

I have a coupe of their 510c's and just bought a 512c... The have relatively small dots (2moa) for USPSA competition guns, but it helps when aiming at a small opening in a partial target... plus... I shoot a lot of PCC only matches throughout the year where we shoot at up to 100 yards... My PCC's aren't Glocks, but they do use Glock magazines...

Jagerwerks did my slide and recommended 15in/lb for my Venom. The Venom is installed with # 6-32 x 7/16 screws.
