I believe even Glock Gen 3 guns will not accept Gen 5 or 4 parts.
I am still looking into building a Glock 17 or 19 poly 80...(or Strike Arms or SS 80) what ever, but does anyone know why they only accepts gen 3 parts? Seems to me the newer gen parts would be better....?

I know, that is why I do not understand why newer 80% build lowers are not being manufactured to accept gen 4 or 5 parts. To be honest I do not know enough about the different generations of Glocks and their parts as to why they are not interchangeable. I have a Glockstore catalog and see gen 3 parts like triggers and connectors and some say gen1-4 and then some are separate gen5. But then on the other page listed are gen 3, gen 4, gen 5 and G42 and G43. I guess I just have to accept the fact a build will only take Gen 3 parts and leave it at that....thanks for the response.
Even taking into consideration the interchangeability of many Glock parts, much like Bill Gates and Windows operating systems, in order to sell new products they must not be like the old, such is the justification of a higher price !
And again like Bill Gates, Glock made Gen 5 so that we will be forced to buy Gen 5 parts, yet the gen 5 is better ....
I EDC a LE trade Gen 3 G17 and wager my life on it !

There are only a few parts unique to Gen4 from Gen3. One for example is the trigger housing mechanism. When Glock changed the grip size to accommodate the backstraps the space left for the housing was more narrow. So the part had to designed to be thinner. It’s not that the newer part is better, it has to be different because the frame is different.
I don’t know how the polymer 80 makes their frames but the molds that Glock uses in their processes cost close a small fortune. Any company is going to want to maximize an investment like that. I would also think that since the aftermarket frames have a different grip than Glock, they probably don’t feel the need to match generations, just need the internal parts.

Ok, so if I build and I select parts that say....Gen 1-4 I am ok as all these parts have the same dimensions and tolerances? But I have to use a Gen 3 part if that particular part has listings as the different gens....GEN1....GEN 2...GEn3? Am I correct in assuming barrels and slides are interchangeable ...G19...Gen 1 to G19... Gen5?
I can not answer that question, but, never assume !

If you go to the Glock Downloadable Materials https://us.glock.com/en/downloadable-materials
There is a Certified Armorers Parts Order Form, while you can only purchase off this form if you are a certified armorer, the real value is that every part Glock makes is listed along with where it is used.
For example, if you are building a P80 that needs the Glock 17 Gen 3 parts then any part listed for the G17 Gen3 (sometimes they just say 9mm if it works in everything) should work. Parts that only work in a Gen4 or 5 will say so.
You can also use this to compare prices on different sites. Some places, typically distributors, sell at Glock’s prices but “fair” would only be a dollar or more than what Glock sells for. The only exceptions would be the restricted parts like minus connectors. They will always cost a lot more.

Thanks MtStream...when I clicked on to the link you provided , at the very bottom there is a Parts order form for (Non-Certified Armorers Only) that list the parts. Great selection and price for the OEM Glock parts.
Welllll..I know for a fact you can put a Gen 4 slide on a Poly80 G26 sized frame provided you Install a slide adapter.
