    Fake/Counterfeit Glock Magazines: How to Identify?

    Hello kind Sirs,

    I would like to purchase additional mags for my G17C. However, I've been reading about fake magazines being sold. Well, they pretty much sell "copies" of everything nowadays. Even the Trijicon RMR has a "Class A" version being sold.

    So, I was wondering if anyone can share how to identify an Original Glock Mag vs a Fake one, and what to look out for when buying a Mag to make sure that it is legit (aside from the Glock logo on the mag and base plate because even logos can now be copied).

    Here in the US genuine Glock magazines typically sell for $30-$35. This has been my experience in my area.
    Packaging is always a clue. To duplicate Glock current packaging would be difficult and costly.
    Pricing is almost always a great guide also.
    Wholesales pricing on Glock mags is around $18 for most.
    So if the cost is near or under dealer cost then it may be a copy.

    I personally have never encountered anything that is a copy of a Glock product with actual Glock markings. Outside airsoft and products produced in other countries but not routinely sold here.

    A couple years back US Customs seized $2MM worth of counterfeit Glock mags. The mags were seized for trademark violation (they were illegal because they had the Glock logo on them). Who knows how many made it in?

    I guess the only way to know you’re getting legit would be to buy from a Glock distributor. The value of their relationship with Glock would be greater than the money they could make on fake mags.

    Not sure if they ship international but I like that they are translucent are easy to see the number of rounds in the mag.

    Thanks @MattP and @MtStream.

    @Gaz, we do have the ETS Mags here. It's one of the mags that I am considering aside from the OEM ones. Price is 3x more than the listed price on the website though... Are they good based on your experience? Can they survive the frequent drop to the ground, etc? Will they fit any ++ Base Pads? I heard the Magpul ones are not compatible with other base pads.

    Here the ETS ones are roughly priced the same with OEM Glock Mags.

    Well that sucks on the price.
    Yes the hold up very well but if there's no real savings on price I would stick with Glock.
    At matches where I work as a RO and shoot the match, it's a pain to reload mags between stages. So I was looking for enough mags to load up for a whole match. Saves me time and makes it a much more enjoyable shoot for me.

    I checked them out because MT mentioned them. I also like there AR mags too.

    I agree with Gaz, ETS are proving to be good mags. I tested them out by dropping them from ~6ft onto concrete while full. They held up great and have never had a failure for me. But if price is the same, buy the Glock mags.

    Thanks guys. I feel sad today, someone was selling his TruGlo Sights for cheap (brand new). Says he got it from the US. When I inquired about it, it got sold super fast! Aaawww... Just sharing. lol

    Attend a GSSF Outdoor League match. At many of them they will have a lot of lightly-used Glock magazines straight from the factory (if you get there early enough).

    I've been using Magpul 'PMags' for the past 4 or 5 years. They're really tough, completely reliable aftermarket magazines for 9 x 19mm Glock pistols. (Wish they made them for 45 ACP.)
