Need advice on a Replacement Barrel for my Glock G-27, Gen 3

Hello everybody. I think I'm going to end up buying a new barrel for my Glock 27 Gen. 3, .40 S&W, which I've owned for 10 years. I inspected the inside of the barrel a few days ago with a small light and about 3/4 to 1 inch from the end of the barrel I saw a small greyish looking patch which did not want to clean out and it also felt like it had a small pit at the spot. I've always kept it cleaned, but maybe carrying it a lot during the hot humid months where I live, maybe I should of oiled the barrel more often. Anyway I would like some feedback on whether I should purchase a Factory Glock Barrel (when I can find one at a reasonable price) or get a Lone Wolf Brand AlphaWolf Glock 27 .40 S&W Barrel # AW-2740N. I don't know much about the reliability of the Lone Wolf barrels, so I wanted to ask you guys for some advice.

    Thanks,
    Oddball

Forget about paying a 'reasonable price'. Smyrna has discontinued making the Model 27, 40 caliber barrels. Personally, I'd forget about Lone Wolf, too. Their barrels are made in some mysterious place like Taiwan, or South Korea, and the mm converted chamber dimensions often require additional gunsmithing in order to open up the chamber mouths so that they can function reliably.

My suggestion? Whenever I get stuck like this I contact Numrich Arms, Gun Parts Corporation: https://www.gunpartscorp.com
On this one I also wouldn't suggest that you wait. You'll be lucky to get anything at all.

Here ya go! https://www.gunpartscorp.com/search#...%2027%20Barrel (Make sure it'll fit your 3rd gen G27, OK!)

One other thing: On that 'gray spot', buy a stopper plug that fits the barrel at someplace like Ace Hardware, or True Value. Then fill the barrel with a solution like Kroil Penetrating Oil. Let it sit for a day, or two before bronze brushing the barrel out. (I've saved more than one barrel by doing this!)

If you want more protection for a barrel that's carried in an extremely humid environment then I'd suggest swabbing the inside of the barrel with 70% rubbing alcohol, and then polishing it to a nice smooth shine with FrogLube PASTE. (If you simply wipe the gun down whenever it's damp then the FrogLube PASTE should be good for up to 3 or 4 months!)

Glock has not stopped making .40 barrels. They just released a Gen5 27 - it might look a little strange without a barrel.

Demand for guns has made spare parts scarce. My last parts order was processed Nov 6 but nothing has shipped yet. Since you’re not looking for something to shoot lead or a fitted barrel, If you can wait, factory would be my preference.

If you can’t wait, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with Lone Wolf. They’ve been one of the better names in replacement/conversion Glock barrels for a long time. Some of the other better names would be KKM, Storm Lake, Bar-sto, Zevtech.

I’d also contact Glock about it. If it is corrosion, they’ll probably replace it.

Actually Glock HAS STOPPED MAKING 40 caliber barrels for Glock Model 27's in Generations: 1, 2, & 3. Neither are we in agreement on the other 40 caliber barrels.

Storm Lake is no longer making these particular barrels, and the OP has indicated that he doesn't want to get into any of the more expensive barrels from manufacturers like Bar-Sto Precision, or Zev Technologies. Besides between Bar-Sto, and Zev I am fairly certain that only Bar-Sto still makes Gen3 barrels for the G27, and it's a minimum $250 dollar barrel.

If you really think that Smyrna will give the OP a free replacement barrel then why don't you call Glock Tech Support for him. Because THAT behavior is way beyond anything that the Smyrna factory has ever done for me in more than 25 years of dealing with them. The last time I spoke to Fred in GTS about some clearly defective Glock pistols he told me, verbatim: "Learn to live with it because that is all we're going to do for you." (Turned out he was wrong, though, because Glock, Inc. ended up getting sued [again], and I ended up with the free parts I needed in order to fix the Glocks!)

And, as far as Lone Wolf barrels go? If I've had to open up the chamber on one Lone Wolf barrel then I've had to open up a dozen. You are also talking about one of the most common complaints, most frequently reported in years past, about these barrels. (And you don't have to take my word for it, either. Google will show this to you!)

Like pretty much anything, get a second opinion, and do some research before paying the first slick talking snake oil salesman that approaches you !

Congrats! Out of more than a half dozen different sources you found one appropriate barrel that's available from, of all places, Botach! (I didn't even know they were still in business!) The rest of those barrels are for either conversion to 9mm, or for other 40 caliber Glock models.

If you would refine your search parameters, and spend a bit of time doing "research", I am sure some results will be had.

FWIW, that was a Google return to a basic generic term request, not one that I found ......

Need advice on a Replacement Barrel for my Glock G-27, Gen 3

I remember when I first started participating on forums, I thought I understood a lot more than I did. But people were gracious and over the years I gained a lot of experience. Because of that, I try to do the same and be gracious when someone joins and says a lot of inaccurate things. For those of us who do know Glocks, it's really really obvious how much of your few posts truly are just speaking out of your ass and for the most part, everyone has been respectful and let them go. But sometimes corrections need to be made and for you to go on the attack is not appropriate.

Glock only has one part number for G27 barrels through Gen4. While Glock announced the discontinuation of the Gen4 line they are still manufacturing and selling the Gen3, including parts. I don't know what Remington has actually done with StormLake in light of Remington’s bankruptcy, I had forgotten they were sold to Remington. My intent was to give a list of manufacturers Oddball could consider as parts are hard to find.
