    Glock 30

I got a g30 and love it. Used it to take my ccw class 2 weeks ago. Have shot probably 500 - 600 rounds thru it and not even a hiccup. To get rid of it, I used 8 yr old sxt, 5 yr old hydrashok, and a new box of federal hardball when first went out with it. I finally found the one gun that will never leave my possession. . Just going trough some other Glock forums, I notice that the 30 seems to be the one that gets the least love, even from Glock owners and aftermarket distributors. Don't understand that at all. Maybe you guys can explain that to me, as I don't get it.

I had no problems with my G30, except that I found i wasnt using it for CCW as it was the size between my G21SF and my G36. In other words, the G21 went well under a jacket and the G36 under an untucked shirt easier than the G30. Could I have done just with the G30? Sure! It is a great handgun and very accurate as you know.

    Congrats, and good shooting !

I recently bought a G30 SF as my first handgun and I think its great. I live in Illinois so I can not use it for CCW. However I don't think its the most popular Glock to own. I think you will find a lot more Glock 22 or 19 owners. However as far as aftermarket parts. I haven't found any issues finding night sights, a Slide extender or holsters for it. Plus I've ran about 300 rounds throughout it using different types of ammo and it hasn't had any issues. I think Glocks are easy and the models are very similar ...so if you own one you owned them all.

I think Texcowboy makes a good point. The 9mm and .40 seem to be most popular in general. I think most guns fall into two categories. A range gun or concealed carry. That makes the full size very popular, and the 27, 23, 26 very popular as well. The 36 is a single stack and is very slim which is a get plus for CCW.

I preference the large caliber and I prefer the extra capacity of the 30 compared to the 36. I love the 30 and it is the perfect CCW gun for me. Others mileage may vary.

I love my 30SF. The 36 just seems to get lost in my hands. The 30 shoots outstanding, has double stack capacity, partnered with some winchester talon ammo makes a big mess of a ham (which to me translates to stopping power) and carries fairly well. The down side is it's a double stack and it a little wide and there are limited holster options for it. Just get a custom holster fit to you and your style and you'll be good to go. Oh and as far as the ham shooting goes, please learn from my mistake. Just go buy a fresh one. Or better yet, go see the local butcher and ask him if he's throwing any meat away. Trust me, the money you spend there is less than the a$$ chewin' you get from the wife for shooting the one in the freezer. It seemed like a great idea at the time and I really didn't think she'd miss it. I, once again, was wrong.
If guns and gun owners are so dangerous, Why are there never any mass murders at the gun range??

Reminds me of the time she busted me cleaning engine parts in the dishwasher. I forgot they were in there until she opened it and I heard her scream my name. Needless to say, she wasn't happy.

Just so happens I work for a foodservice company that sells food to restaurants. One of my friends/customers owns a meat market. Since he shares my love for anything that goes "BOOM"! Think I will get a nice size ham and see what a 185 critical defense will do from the G30.

I went back and forth between 30 and 36;both are great. I ended up buying 36; its just peresonal preference. its shoots 45 cal so it just costs more so not going to sell as many. I am finding 40 cal close in price to 9mm but feel 36 easier to shoot than my fnx 40; you can't go wrong with 30 and more accurate then kimber I shot this weekend with friends.
