    G17C Slide after 150 rounds: Is this normal?

    Hi guys,

    I shot my first 150 rounds off of my Glock 17C and while tinkering on the gun last night, I noticed these two "nicks" on the slide near the barrel. Is this normal?

    My G17C comes with only 2 pins, and I have always wondered why since it looks like a Gen 3 which is supposed to come with 3 pins.

    I did not encounter any malfunction when I was shooting.

    That is a normal wear spot. Typically, wear will show up wherever the fit of the gun is a little tight, in the first couple hundred rounds but will not continue to get any worse after that.

    Thanks MtStream. Got a bit worried when I saw it.

    Right about the same spot. I wonder if the new Gen 5's have corrected this issue already?

    No, it’s really not a problem at all. And I have lots of Glocks from all generations with no wear on those spots.

    The Gen5s have a tendency to have more wear spots. Glock made things a bit tighter in spots on the Gen5s so sometimes the finish has to wear a little bit for things to fit right. This is normal.

    I have another question, what's the difference between G17 and G19? If the user will be a first time gun owner, and a lady. I haven't really tried to shoot a G19 so I don't know how to compare them. I understand that G19 is smaller than G17, which makes it fit a female hand much better. Reason I ask is bvecause a friend of mine is considering to get her first firearm, and when I let her hold my G17C, it looks big on her hands.

    Best I can tell is the physical size/weight is the only difference.

    I have both and have shot both and for my larger strong hands the 17 fits me best.

    Lone Watie: I notice when you get to DISlikin' someone they ain't around for long neither.

    The 19 has a shorter handle (top to bottom) and a shorter slide. But both guns have the same thickness and the distance from the grip to trigger is the same.

    If the gun is too long for her hand, that doesn’t matter. But if she can’t get her hand around the grip correctly and reach the trigger, she will always struggle and this is the same on both guns.

    Does she want a gun to shoot competition or for personal defense?

    @Otintx: Thanks.

    @MtStream: Oh so basically it's the same in terms of being able to grip the gun properly or not. G17 will be easier to manage recoil though since it has a longer barrel than the G19, am I correct?

    She has not decided yet if she wants to do competition. At the moment I could say that it's for personal defense.
