    Yet Another Newbie Thread

    Hello all,

I was searching through the web about Glocking and this site came up quite a few times so I decided I would pop in and make an account. The handgun ban was lifted in Chicago back in 2010 so I decided to jump in the pool and start loading up. Originally I'm from Louisiana and I grew up shooting with my daddy. I moved to Chicago back in 2000 and have lost touch with shooting (only going once every 2 years or so when I went back home). Now that the ban has been lifted, It's time to bring my guns up from Louisiana so I can start enjoying them again. The registration process has begun and they should all be here in a year or so.

For now, I decided to buy a Glock as my first "CFP" purchase. I've always been a fan of the .45 caliber so it seemed that the 21 was ideal for me. There are people in my life that own Glocks and swear by them claiming that they are the most reliable handguns out there. I've shot a few over the years but never owned one. My daddy isn't a fan of polymer handguns so I don't have much experience with them.

When I first picked it up (empty with no clip) it felt a little front heavy. Once I filled the clip and held it up, the weight shifted to a clean balance. On my first field strip, I was absolutely shocked at how light the grip was. Keep in mind that I came from shooting 1911 a1's so this was a huge surprise.

I haven't taken it to the range yet, but I will be going the following weekend. Can't wait!!! Here's a pic of my new sweetheart. glock.pro/glock-pistols/491-glock-pic-thread-38.html#post61187

    See everyone around the forums!!!

    Regards,

    Chkn

Hey Chkn, that's a great intro. Thanks for posting. Welcome to the forum. Its great to hear that you can finally enjoy your firearms. I feel sorry for you guys that live in the oppressed areas of the country. Its good to hear Big Brother has backed off the gun ban.

Welcome to the Glock.pro forums, ChknNRice...

Congratulations on your new Glock 21... Great first Glock...

Be careful transferring your guns up to Chicago... I hear that they still have some tough rules up there...

I felt the same way looking at blocks in gun stores, a good selling point might be some weighted plastic mags to let people feel how well balanced a fully loaded weapon is. Even 4 or so rounds takes that feeling away.

    Enjoy your 45
"buckets of bullets" thats how you get better, if you think your pretty good, shoot another 10k rounds and you will be better.
Its just my opinion, I tend to prefer them over yours!
