    Ruger 22/45 or 10/22

My wife is getting me one of these for our first year ann. I cant decide what to get!! I dont have an ar 15 but I have a lr308 " S.A.P.R." ( semi automatic precision rifle ) , a 270 win bolt gun ( husqvarna ), shotgun, glock 27&19, ruger sr9c, ruger lcp.

Plans for the 22 I get are: put thousand and thousands of rounds through it.

The 22/45 sounds good so I improve my handgun skills....but

the 10/22 sounds good to so I can practice some carbine drills. My lr308 is way to big for that. It is the 24" bull barrel.

    What would u do?

    Thanks guys

I love my 10/22, but I hunt squirell with mine. Its a great gun with a stellar reputation. Its a good plinker as well. It depends of ypu intended use for the rifle, as to what to get. If you want a great rifle that is cheap to shoot then the Ruger is hard to beat.

As it stands today you can find many more after market items for the 10/22. I have had one for over 20 years that I can't tell you how many rounds have gone downrange from it. In it's present state it has a Choate folding stock, flash diverter, see-thru scope rings with a BSA 6-24X44 scope, back to back bannana mags holding 25 rounds each. It's just plain fun to shoot and after all those rounds it is still as accurate as the day it came out of the box. My vote.....10/22.

Thanks guys. I do see tons of aftermarket parts for the 10/22 & that is a good point to consider.

This is a ridiculous question... you get BOTH of course!

Seriously, one thing to keep in mind. The 22/45 is based off of the 1911 grip so you'll have to get used to that difference. If you put thousands and thousands of rounds through it, it "may" interfere with your GLOCK grip as the angle is different. You experience may vary.

I have both and love both. Can't beat either. My 22/45 is my main suppressor host although I have also used it on my 10/22 rifles. I own several

It has been quite a few years since most of the guys in this thread last posted.

I don't recognize that stock, but maybe someone else here will... or you could start a new thread on 'Best 10/22 Stock' or something like that...
