Renewed my Armorer's Certification and Registerd for the Advanced Armorer's Course

A few weeks ago, I finally attended the Glock Armorer's Course and renewed my certification. The last time I attended the course was 2012. Back in 2012, the Gen 4 guns were pretty new. We completed the course back then with Gen 3 Glock 23s and only talked about the Gen 4s briefly. We received an Armorer's Manual supplement for them that was all of about 15 pages. I really wanted to take the course again because there have been quite a few changes in the last 8 years with Gen 5 and many other things.

I received my certificate in the mail a few days ago, and decided I'd check out the course schedule on the Glock Training Site for the Advanced Armorer's Course. It turns out they are hosting an AAC at the same location in September of 2021 so I registered for it. The next morning I received my confirmation email from Glock. I'm excited to dive in deep next year! I've heard a lot about the Advanced course and know that you learn a ton. I've been wanting to take it for a long, long time.

The first time I took the Advanced Course I loved it! We got into a lot of details both useful and not so useful but a ton of information. The rest of the class was a spec ops unit that was getting ready to deploy and were being issued Glocks.

When it came to the practical (inspecting guns/identifying repairs needed), it was difficult and detailed. No one came close to finishing all the guns by the end of the 2nd day.

The second time I took the course, we were done well before lunch the second day - probably could have finished in one day with another hour or so. We didnít go into near the amount of detail and the practical was pretty easy - we were only identifying a single problem, a lot less inspecting everything to identify potential issues. I left a bit disappointed.

I hope it was just the instructor but he said they had reduced the course to better fit what LE armorers needed.

Iím interested to hear about your experience. I hope they havenít really changed the course. The manual is still the same so maybe the instructor just wanted to get out of Midland!

Thanks very much for the reply, MtStream. After posting this thread last night I read the thread you posted years ago after taking the AAC for the first time; it was a great read. I'm definitely looking forward to it and will let you know how it goes in September. My instructor is Dennis Tueller. He was my instructor for the Armorer's Course when I first took it back in 2012, and was a Glock Training instructor long before that. He was great. I definitely won't mind if it is as intense and thorough as your first experience. Thanks again for the info!

Looks like Tueller is doing most of the classes in TX now too but Iím pretty sure that was not the name of my 2nd instructor. Iíll have to look back at the manual and see if I wrote it down. The first time I went to Smyrna and had the infamous Scotty Banks. He was a trip! Hope you have a great class!!!
